The reason I chose Light is because I'm the type of person who always has to do the right thing, no matter what. I believe that love is the most precioius and powerful gift we could recieve, and I truly feel sorry for anyone who hasn't experienced the kind of love and friendship that I have. I have some of the greatest people in the world in my life, and anyone who doesn't know what that feels like is missing out. Trust, Justice, and Bravery still count for something in this world.
I know, I take it a little too seriously, but it's an important message to spread to everyone, not just Harry Potter fans. I had an experience with it tonight where I felt like I was fighting the Dark side, and in this case Justice wasn't served. But like I said, it's all about a message, not a make believe story. And the message is what is important.

haha, now I know why you got Gryffindor. All I can say to that post is hear, hear! You have mirrored my sentiments exactly! (and much more eloquently I might add).

Ha, yeah I suppose the Headmistress put me in the right house. It's strange, but I always thought I was more Slytherin, but perhaps not. Thank you for the compliment :-) But, we should find a way to spread this message of good to a lot of people. That should be our goal.

hehe, right! So how do we go about that? I know people don't like us blatantly saying "JOIN THE LIGHT" lol, but we could do it more subtley?

yeah, broken2nite. That was definitely a nice post.
I guess I feel about the opposite of you. I've seen some of the worst the world has to offer and want to find a way to make it so that less people have to deal with that kind of sadness and suffering. I don't really know what we could do on an HP site to fix that, but that's basically what led me here rather than the Dark side, as it were.

Dragon's Lost Child, thanks :-)
I too have seen some of the worst in people, trust me. I grew up dealing with drug addicts, alcoholics, sexual abuse, ect., but it's kinda like what Sirius Black said "The world isn't divided between good people and Death Eaters." Same rings true in real life. There are people put on this earth for the soul reason as to test us and make us strong, even though it doesn't feel like that at the time.
We can do a lot on this site to spread the message. Sometimes, just being kind to people you wouldn't normally be kind to makes all the difference in the world. As long as we can offer a safe environment for people to come, chat, and feel welcome, they will understand that kindness and want to be kind to others. Also, we're all talented writers here, we can do something through our fanfics. Like I said, it's all about spreading the message, and whether we say this message outright or in a more subtle and metephorical sense, the message will get across.
I wish we could make it so less people have to deal with the things we've dealt with, but we probably can't do that. But what we can do is help people through the pain, and let them know that they are never alone. That's sort of what I got from the HP books about Voldemort. He was surrounded by all these people, but not out of love but fear and hunger for power. Essentially, he was alone, and that was his downfall.
Alright, enough talking from me! lol

yeah, I've found that most of my writing tends to focus around the pain and temptation of darkness and finally overcoming it. My current original novel, Otherworld, is pretty much completely about that, and no matter how I try to write exciting extermal plots and excitement, my stuff always tends to be more about internal struggles for redemption.
That's why I'm finding it hard to force out a fanfiction for that competition Elle's got up. I can't really get a thread on the theme: "Dark Honor..."

I'm trying for that competition too, but I haven't thought about it much. How long can it be?

It can be 1000-3000 words long, but if everyone is wanting to go over I might see if we can take away the word limit, but just keep a minimum.
As for the actual fic, you can make it humour if you like; it doesn't have to be dark and dramatic. If I were to do it I think I would go the humour direction.
Oh, and broken2nite, I completely agree with your post! That was really touching, and I can only hope that we will all be able to make this forum a nice environment.

Oh, I don't know how to do humor, lol. If I were going to write it it would have to be dark and dramatic but, like I said, most of my stuff is about redemption, so I can't really think of how I'd put down something honoring the darkness. I'd accidentally twist it so they ended up seeing the light by the end. Oh well, I'll muddle through it.

*shrugs* I'm sure you'll figure something out. I'm sure Dark honour could be twisted into something else. Like, hrm, the dark honour of being killed by Voldemort. That way you can still keep your person relatively light.

lol, true, true. Are you going to be participating, moogle? I'd like a chance to read some of your stuff.

I would but I've offered to be a judge. I really liked the idea though.

Let me know if the Headmistress decides to change the length. I tend to get a bit wordy and I know I'll go over the world limit.

haha last night i stayed up till about 4, writing out a vague plan for it, then wrote the first page... lol
If any one here can colour pictures on the computer, please let me know, I have a drawing for the icon of the light, but I can't do computer colouring, and my scanner makes colour go a bit odd.
oh and in reply to the other replies on the naming thread, Corpse Bride is a very good movie, i like it. Not the best of Tim Burton, but then again, it's in competition with Nightmare before Christmas, Edward Scissor Hands, and even Beetlejuice, none the less, it is a wonderful movie, very cute and absolutely gorgeous characters with excellent voices and interesting plot, with a twist here and a twist there, making it a very Tim Burton film.
