So high school is 7-10 and high...er school is 11-12. lol, for some reason I find that funny. Yeah, all of our systems seem completely different. The way you talk- about units and stuff, sounds more like how our college system works. For us it's middle school (or some call it "jr. high") from 6-8 and then high school from 9- 12. And we're not allowed to quit school 'til we're 18, which would pretty much be halfway through twelfth grade anyway, so there wouldn't be much point in dropping even if you wanted to.

High School is year 9-13 at mine. we have Intermediate for when you are age 11 and 12 (year 7 & 8) and before that it is just primary school.
I could have left school when I turned 16, but I ended up staying, which is weird since I was actually trying to leave when I was 14 (and almost did)

well, you get your higher school certificate after year 12, but it's still high school, year 11 and 12 are seniors, 7-10 juniors. we can drop out once we are 14, or old enough to enter the work force or get an apprenticeship. alot of people drop out in year 10, most just after, and usually alot of people during year 11 too... but my year is a freak year and grew. *grumbles*
we now have 250 people or something in year 11... year 10 is like 200... our school has 1500 people around about in total. oh the joys of it all.
units and stuff only come in during senior years, in year 8 you get electives, but only a small selection, year 9 and 10 are a bit more, and senior years are completely your choice, except english.
*shrug* tis odd.

I think there were only about 600 at my highschool, but then I was living in a small rural town when I went to Highschool, lol.
Your school is quite small, Scream. I was expecting something a bit bigger.

mines one of the biggest in the area... my old school, which was in the next town, like over a hill basically, had half the number of students.

Maybe it's because I'm used to expecting everything to be bigger than what it is in NZ. We alsways seem to be so miniscule here compared to everyone else, lol.

i often forget that australia really isnt that well known in other countries... i was talking to someone on the net, and i said i was from australia, they asked "where?", then i said the southern hemisphere, their reply was actually: "oh you mean the place near new zealand?" haha.

OMG really? See, people always seem to think NZ is a part of Australia, or else that we're in China somewhere *chuckles*
I think Lord of the Rings has helped NZ get on the map better, which is awesome.

I can't imagine someone not knowing where Australia is! Anyone who grew up, like I did, watching the Crocodile Hunter on Animal Planet, knows where Australia is! *cries* I sure did love Steve.

Yeah, it's pretty sad he died. I used to watch all his shows when I was younger.

i never really liked him, but i did respect him for everything he did and the way he was able to reach so many people. It was such a shock when it happened. I was at school when I found out, and no one really believed it happened, one girl actually turned around and said sarcastically, "Crikey!" then when we found out it was true, she still did it. i dont think i have been more upset by someone at school. havent really talked to her since. lol. i hold grudges quite well.
the only thing that annoyed me was that some people thought that because he acted like that and had the accent so strong, all aussies were like that. even worse was when people blamed him for those instances. gah.

I say crikey a lot, but only because I used to say Christ a lot, and I've been trying to break they habit, and crikey sounded better.
Well, wish me luck folks, I'll be gone till Monday because of another funeral :-(

Is anyone else excited to see who wins the battle this time? I seriously have no idea who will win, as all the poems I read were so brilliant!
