I live in the most boring state in the US...Ohio!
Oh, by the way, I'm SJ for anyone who doesn't know or hasn't figured it out.
Hola, mi llamo es Sarita! Soy ambiciosa, bastante linda, baja, y morena! Tengo quince anos, y mi cumpleanos es El Cinco de Noviembre. Vivo en una casa con mi madre, padre, y hermanos. Tengo un gato, el nombre es Grady :] Es muy muy guapo! Amo el clase de historia y ingles. No megusta matematicas.
Does anybody else here know even a little Spanish? (considering I have taken a year of it, this is just elementary stuff) If not, I feel superior! *cue evil laughter*
It's only recent immigrants (late 20th) that aren't expected to learn English. When my ancestors came, they had to learn English or be screwed. Of course, my ancestors also came over legally.

I know! My friend, her parents had actually been raised in Spain, (born in Italy) then moved to Mexico because of the father's business, but recently they all moved up here. They all speak perfect English, it's amazing! Some of them have an accent, but you can understand them. What also annoys me is the Vietnamese who don't bother speaking very good English, either. I know one guy that moved here from 'Nam in high school... he runs the nail place right next to where I work. He graduated from Poly Tech in Cali. (that's really tough crap, there) full ride scholarship! He didn't even know English when he moved here-- yet he made all that effort and commitment, and look what he was able to do! Now, he has a chain of nail places... dang, they make good money!!
The hard working, committed people are those that I respect, but the ones that lay back and do nothing but trafficking illegal goods/drugs across the border do nothing but irritate the hell out of me!!! [/rant]

i don't understand illegal immigrants. i don't know much abotu the process, but is it very expensive? that's the only reason i can see (besides pure laziness) not to become a citizen. if you want to live in the country, why not?

You don't have to pay taxes to the state and the feds. But then again, that means that they don't get the benefits, like getting a driver's license, etc. although they do end up getting them illegally, which is a shame. That's why they don't get credit cards, since they can't prove that they're citizens!! Which they aren't. Mexicans (almost) always pay with cash (illegals, at least).

yeah, its ridiculous what you can get away with. i know about taxes, but the actual citizenship process--does that cost money? if i moved to another country, and i liked it better and wanted to live there, i'd want to be a citizen.

Hello, my name is Sarah. Don;t know the next phrase but the next one is saying your birthday is in November. Something about your mum, your dad and one sister? You like English and History but not mathematics?
My Spanish is very rusty as you can see. I did one term of it in 3rd form (I was thirteen).

My mum is from California and my dad is from South Africa. I know that when he became a U.S. citizen he had to take some classes and stuff like that, and that did cost money. But for one thing, it takes awhile to be allowed to immigrate, you have to have reasons for immigrating, and it does cost money. They view America as the land of oppurtunity, but you have to have resourses so that you can come her legally. I am frustrated with the number of illegal immigrants and how they think that they should have all of these rights because they came here illegally. I have no problem with Mexicans (if you came here legally and you made an effort to become part of the world you moved to, including learning english. But whatever, there really isn't anything that I can do about it.

We don't really have a problem with immigrants here. I've never had trouble with any of them, so I guess I can't really comment on this.

It is very beautiful. The great thing about New Zealand is that you can see forests, mountains, beautiful lakes, vast plains, as well as nice beaches and the more tropical feel. It's so different everywhere that it is impopssible to get bored if you are the scenic type of person.
The actual cities themselves are very small, but I think there is nothing wrong with that if you've just come from somewhere that is overcrowded.

California is much the same way, actually. When everyone thinks of California, they think of the beach and Hollywood, but I actually live in Northern California about a half an hours drive from the MOUNTAINS, which is in our state, and more like three hours to the beach. We have valley's, mountains, beaches, big cities, little cities, pretty much whatever you want, you can find in California. I love it here.

Your name is sarah, you are short and dark. you are 15 years old and your birthday is on the fifth of november. You live in a house with your mom, dad, and borhters. You have a cat named Grady who is very hadsome. You love History and english class, but not math.
yay. =) wow. first year spanish? you're good. =) (i just finished my 3rd year of spanish and i still couldn't translate it ALL. ((i didn't know:: ambiciosa, bastante linda)) In my defnese, I had a terrible Spanish teacher this past year who decided she would start teaching and taking grades the last six weeks of school...)
If I could explain Texas and how much I love it, I would...but I really just can't wait to move. Lets see... It's big. There's a lot of people. We talk really slow. =) It's not really THAT bad, and I expect it'd be cool if you've never been here before.

I pick up languages quickly, that's all.
Morena = dark-haired hermanos = This was actually speaking of siblings, which is hard to actually distinguish because of the whole masculine/femnine thing.
Guapo was the only word I know to describe something that was masculine and pretty...it sounds weird to say my cat in handsome haha!
A lot of my friends are in Spanish Three, and they don't know stuff very well at all -- they had to work out of the Spanish II book this year, actually.
That's how is usually is. I'm not sure a lot of people find Ohio exciting, because it's not, but who knows? Someone might.
Let's see... The weater is unpredicatble! It can be 90 degrees, in June, one day, and then like 40 the next. Winter is about half the year (yuck). All our sports teams suck. Our educational system is crap and keeps losing funding...but hey, living here is cheap!

Not a mutiny, but sometimes people just need to take a break. Elle took a break, and it was probably easier for her to start a new site than take over one that has completely lost her personal touch. I have a site which I founded which I would never dream of taking back. You just need to let some things be, which is why I think Elle made the right decision. (Hopefully she isn't going to crucio me for saying all this ) Moogle, are you implying that Phee and I have let the site go, because if I remember rightly, it was us that keept the site alive with barely 5 members for months when everyone deserted it, even you! (I'm not having ago at you for deserting though) I think we've done a really good job, and if you're going to complain about all the work you've put in just recently, then don't. I was Head of House and School all that time you were away, to have you steal back the title without my knowledge. That comes off bitchy but it's not. I'm stressed. And Raye, don't even start. I've tried to be civil to you so far, and I was hoping that you would have matured enough to return to me the same courtesy. And Why am I suddenly "Veritaserum"? Obviously that's going to change when I've had the time to think of a decent name.

Oh my gosh, Abbie I wasn't implying that at all!! I think you and Phee have done an awesome job in keeping the site going; believe me, I know how hard it is to keep things going when people desert (myself included in that).
I'm sorry that you feel I have stolen the HoH title from you, as you did say in the Gryffindor thread that you wanted to pass it on. But really, I would have prefered to say all this to you in a PM, but oh well. Please don't feel like I am picking at you. I think you are a wonderful person and you and Phee have both done an amazing job considering the circumstances. Many of us would not have been able to do what you two have managed.
