Now, I am sure you are all familiar with Wizard toys and games, now we're going to study all the toys and games Muggles (especially children) play to keep themselves amused.
I'm just going to do a breif description of many different kinds of games and toys.
A simple game is "Tag". Tag is when a bunch of children get together and one person is "it". The person who is "it" has to chase the other children around until they tag someone. The person they tag is then "it".
Another simple game is "Hide-and-Seek". Once again, it involves a group of children where one child is "it". This child closes his/her eyes and counts to a set number. While the "it" child is counting, the other children hide. It is the duty of the "it" child to find the hidden children.
Another game is "Duck-Duck-Goose". It goes with the basic template of a group of children with one being "it". The non-"it" children sit in a circle. The it child walks around the circle tapping everyone on the head. Each person they tap on the head, they say "duck", until they pick a random "goose." The "goose" then stands up and chases after "it". If "it" can run around the circle and sit down in "goose"'s spot before "goose" catches them, "goose" is the new "it". If "goose" catches "it", then "it" has to sit in the middle of the circle until another "it" is caught.
Now, we're going to move on to games and toys that require a physical object...
First, we're going to talk about Play-Doh. Play-Doh is a coloured molding clay that young children play with. It can be molded and re-molded into whatever comes to mind. The many bright colors and freedom of expression keeps children amused for hours.
Legos are colorful building blocks that interlock with each other, allowing children to build things, then take them apart and build something else.
Barbie dolls are a muggle doll, geared towards little girls. Barbie is very pretty and has other doll friends. She comes with lots of clothes and shoes and accessories.
Some Muggle children like to play with toy cars. Toy cars are miniature versions of Muggle cars (which some of you might be familiar with as they have been adapted with magic for the Wizarding world). The tiny car is pushed around, sometimes on a plastic race track.
Next, we'll talk about a few board games. Board games are games that are played on a piece of painted board. Usually with plastic pieces and dice. I will give you a few examples of popular Board Games.
One popular game is Monopoly. This game can be played by children, but is generally more popular with Adults. It is a real estate buying game. You go around a board and buy properties. You can pay to build upon these properties while others pay you rent if they land on a property you own.
Another board game is Clue. The story behind it is that a hypothetical murder of a Mr. Boddy took place at this mansion and it is your job to find out who did it. At the beginning of the game, three cards are drawn. These cards represent the person who killed Mr. Boddy, where they killed him, and what they killed him with. The remaining cards are passed out amongst the players. You guide your piece around the mansion, asking other players about certain cards and whether they have them or not, until you figure out which three cards are missing.
ASSIGNMENT:
Your assignment is to pick THREE of the games/toys we discussed and think of ways that magic would improve these games and toys. I would like at least 1 paragraph per game/toy.
