This a where you will find all the useful hints I can think of to help you with your writing. As more come to me, more will be added. If you have a suggestion, feel free to post it.
1: Sometimes when you are writing, you maybe find that you are using the same word to describe, effectively forcing your writing to lose its flow and power. This, my friends, is where the joys of the "thesaurus" comes into play.
A thesaurus is a writer's key tool in finding words to replace those already used, but you must not get over-happy with the thesaurus, as that stands out just as much as using the same word.
Another thing to remember is that not all of the words listed for the thesaurus will fit for your sentence. If you don't know what the word means, look it up in a dictionary!!! You do not want to look foolish by using the wrong word!

2: Music can be helpful when writing for when you need inspiration, but music can also over-take your writing and force you to go places you do not want to, or make you rush your writing. This is why sometimes it is better to not listen to music at all, or listen to the one song you want to use, (over and over if that's what it takes) to get the part you need for your particular chapter or segment.

3: If you've been stuck on the same chapter for longer than a month, you've either complicated your writing so much that you no longer know how to go from there, or you have lost the inspiration for that part.
If this is the case, I suggest you read through what you already have, see if anything comes to you, and if you decide things need to be changed, then change it. If, however, nothing can be changed, simply move on to another part in your story and come back to your segment of writing later when you have the inspiration.
Just remember, it is okay to delete and start again. I have deleted more than 40,000 words for my novel just in the last few weeks, and yes it was hard at the time, but it will be worth it in the end. Don't be afraid to start again, or change things!
