Just from a few threads I have gathered that quite a few of us are writing our own fictional novels. I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we could discuss what it is we're writing, share segments of our novels, give encouragement, and really just talk to others who share the same passion for writing.

Yay! you did make another thread.
I'm currently writing two novels, actually- near the end of one and having just started the other.
The one I'm almost finished with is called "Otherworld" and is this sort of sci-fi fantasy, dark themed, drama. The main pairing's M/M, which makes me wonder at the sort of reception I'll get if I ever publish it, but with all the slash lovers out there I probably don't have to worry to much. lol
The main characters are a group called "Gifted," which are basically mutants, with Gifts of everything from pyrokinesis to the ability to open a gateway to another world. At the start of the novel one of my main characters is brought from her world to another, much darker reality paralleling it, and she has to discover why she was brought there and how to get home.
Well, that's the basics of it, anyway. The story, itself, is a lot more complicated. How 'bout you, moogle?

Sounds interesting. Hah, I'm not sure if I would ever have the nerve to write a m/m novel, but then I don't think I could anyway since I'm not really interested in that type of relationship.
I'm writing a fantasy novel, which sadly has a very intricate storyline that makes it hard to explain, but I will try.
Basically a few hundred years ago there were the Ulos Areosi which were very powerful humans that had the ability to fuse with their magic to become creatures of terrible powers. They ruled Erenia and dominated the mages who were humans with lesser magic. A prophecy was made in which one of the Ulos Areosi would either detrory or save Erenia. The mages grew fearful and gathered together a massive army, destroying the entire Ulos Areosi except for a very few people who escaped.
Now hundreds of years later, the mages rule the world and the child of prophecy has been born. The countries are corrupted and warring with one another, and Blake (the man boy) finds himself forced into a battle which he has no crontrol over to help stop the destruction.
That's a very basic outline, but I find story summaries always make the novels sound rather lame, lol.

yeah, me too. If I ever do get published I'm making someone else write summaries for me. I just looked over mine and the story seems pretty crappy. lol
Eh, I'm into het or MM, whatever I think works. Plus, a few of my good friends are gay so I want to lend support to the genre.
Yours seems really interesting, though. How far along in it are you?

Hah, well orginally I was going to do a sequel, but I decided to cut it, so now I am only on chapter one, but I have the whole plot written out in notes. Really I just have to write it now.

just...lol... I find the writing is a lot more time consuming than the plotting.

I know. It's taken me months to get the first chapter done, and I still haven't finished it!!

I would love to know if either of you post your novels on a website, they sound very interesting. Mines a bit cliche, I think. Only one other person has ever read it and she didn't give feed back, though that could be because it's only half finished. I've been obsessed on and off with dragons for a while so I strated writing a novel about them.
Basically, humans with certain traits are picked by dragons of a certain breed to take care of eachother. One of the main characters end up partnered with a dragon of the opposite gender and is ostracized by the dragon lore, who are the only ones that can tell the difference in gender. It's an M/M story as well, but I don't really focused much on that until the last few chapter.
I pretty much have the whole thing planned out, I just need to fill it in so it isn't a boring summary! The writing really is the hard part. xD

I have so many stories, and even more ideas... I hate planning, I always just want to jump in and write a thrilling climax, sadly, thats a little hard when you dont know what the story is about, let alone who the antagonist is. I have a good story planned, its called the Cirdaylee Chronicles, and I've managed to labour through the planning stage for the first time in my life.
Its about a group of magically endowed children (ranging from six to sixteen) that have been selected to train under the powerful magicican Merlin Dee. They live in the middle of Cirdaylee forest, in Merlin's castle, they notice he seems to becoming ill, and pour over books to save the old man, soon theyv discover a world of darkness and evil, and then, Merlin dissapears, leaving them with a man who could not be trusted with a hard boiled egg.
So then the real quest begins, I'm thinking of killing someone off. Thats always fun, JK seems to enjoy it, anyway.

Both of those books sound like they've got a lot of merit.
Pyromaniac: I've got about seven stories I could be writing, but I've decided to put them on hold until I finish up the two I'm doing now. I write down short character bios and the basic plot and then save it for later when I'm idea-less... (though if that'll ever happen. lol)
I'm definitely killing off one of my favorite characters in Otherworld. I love him to death, but it has to be done... And I love writing semi-tragic endings. ^_^
Taku Aiden: I started posting OW on fictionpress.com, but then decided against it 'cause if I want to REALLY get it published someday I don't want it floating all over the internet first. What about you?

I haven't posted any of mine on the net, but I have quite a number of people who read my chapters through email, etc.
Pyromaniac that sounds like it is going to be an interesting story, as does yours Taku Aiden!

Yah, I know what you mean. It's nearly impossible to get stuff published these days, but I guess we just have to persevere.
